Rodney Hogg takes a humble pie following the Windies' historic Gabba victory. "Apparently, I've reinvented West Indies Test cricket."

The West Indies cricket team just achieved their first Test victory on Australian soil since 1997 with a historic eight-run victory over the World Test Champions at The Gabba. Even more astounding is how much the disparaging comments made by former Australian bowler Rodney Hogg influenced the outstanding performance of the West Indies.

Recognized for his direct remarks, Rodney Hogg had already called the West Indies ‘hopeless and sad’ following their ten-wicket defeat in Adelaide.

His frank appraisal appeared to have ignited the West Indies players, who went on to triumph in Brisbane by surprising everyone and going beyond expectations.

Young West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph showed tenacity by putting his toe injury worries to rest and taking an incredible seven-wicket haul in the game, which helped the side to a historic victory.

As he saw the West Indies play in the first innings of the second Test, Rodney Hogg, taken aback by the team’s reversal, wondered if his earlier appraisal was accurate.

“I was glancing at the West Indies during that opening session of this second Test and asking myself, ‘How accurate was my prediction?'” With three wickets from Starc, they were 5/65. It appeared to be a predetermined two and a half-day match,” he stated, as reported by sen.com.au.

Hogg praised the West Indies for their outstanding performance while highlighting the particular difficulties they had, including the day-night schedule, the pink ball, and the sizable audience at The Gabba.

They put up an amazing show, and it was great that they got the chance to play Australia in a second Test match. Some of them had never participated in a day-night game prior to being up at the Gabba. A ball of pink exists. They are performing for 30,000 or 40,000 spectators. It’s an alternative experience,” Hogg continued.

In this test match, we were motivated by two words, I must admit: Kraigg Braithwaite

The captain of the West Indies, Kraigg Braithwaite, publicly admitted that Hogg’s criticism was a source of motivation for their performance during the Test match. Playfully questioning Hogg’s muscle mass, Braithwaite brought attention to the team’s newly found self-assurance. Encouragingly, Braithwaite even asked Hogg how big his muscles were, demonstrating the team’s newly acquired self-assurance.

“I have to admit that during this test match, we were motivated by two words. Since Mr. Rodney Hogg called us “pathetic” and “hopeless,” that person served as our inspiration. We aimed to demonstrate to the world that we are not weak. I have to ask him, too: Do these muscles have adequate size for him? stated Braithwaite.

Hogg admitted that the West Indies had improved over the series, despite the fact that he may have been served a menial pie. It seems that I have reimagined Test cricket in the West Indies. Before I said such things, they had no chance, but after hearing them, they all got up and were inspired to play well,” he said.
