Robin Uthappa recalls his battle with mental illness: "I was so ashamed of who I became as a human being"

Robin Uthappa, a former cricket player for India, has been talking about mental health and how it affected him in 2011. Former cricket players David Johnson and Graham Thorpe sadly died recently, having battled depression for many years. In his remarks, Uthappa discussed the significance of mental health while providing instances.

In 2011, the 38-year-old admitted that he felt embarrassed of himself and was unsure of what to do. According to Uthappa, on those days, one should always concentrate on living in the moment and avoid planning too far ahead. While acknowledging that occasionally people do not see the “light at the end of the tunnel,” he clarified that it is crucial to move forward and ignore the tunnel.

Robin Uthappa also talked about how he struggled with depression and how he was always looking for solutions.

We’re going to discuss suicide and depression. David Johnson, an Indian, and Graham Thorpe were the subjects of recent news. The cornerstone of CSK was VB Chandra Sekhar, sir. Yes, I have also been there. It’s not an attractive voyage. It is crippling. You feel like a burden to the people you care about. It’s difficult. In a video posted to his YouTube page, Uthappa stated, “You feel like you are worth less.”

“I was really ashamed of the person I had become in 2011.” It’s very acceptable to be unsure of your next course of action. Sometimes the only thing you can do is live for that one day. It’s not always necessary to see light at the end of the tunnel. Only until the next phase do you need the light,” he continued.

“Many people who committed suicide as a result of depression have come to our attention. Personally, I’ve also been there. It feels weighty, that’s for sure. When I was experiencing clinical depression, I frequently felt like a burden. I wanted to know why,” he remarked.
