Former UAE coach Robin Singh expects spin-friendly pitches for Indian team in Dubai in Champions Trophy 2025

However, former India cricketer Robin Singh, who previously served as the UAE’s national coach, has supported the pitch’s slowness during the day to help spinners and stated that the toss will not be very important.

Pitches are thought to be crucial in every game, and this was reaffirmed when a number of teams had voiced worries about the pitch’s quality. The International Cricket Council (ICC) assigns ratings to the pitches, which range from satisfactory to unsatisfactory whether they match its predetermined standards. The ICC closely monitors the decks at its events; in the past, the World Cup 2023 final pitch was judged mediocre, and two of the three T20 World Cup 2024 pitches were judged inadequate.

All of Team India’s 2025 Champions Trophy matches will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Significantly, the Men in Blue will have a team that is primarily composed of spinners, and according to ILT20 2025 statistics, spinners have not been very effective at capturing wickets.

Because it’s a closed environment, a lot relies on the surface you’re playing on in Dubai. In Dubai, there is a middle wicket and wickets to the side. As a result, the sun doesn’t reach the wickets until roughly three or four o’clock in the evening. It then casts a shadow. Because you don’t get enough sunshine for extended periods of time, wickets to the left are typically a little slower,”

Robin Singh stated, as reported by the Indian Express.

“Sunlight is only present for a short time due to the stadium’s construction. Naturally, the humidity will cause it to be warm, and dew will always be present. Dew is a little early for that, though, so it won’t come down to throw,” he said.

Some wickets that they would like to play on, I believe, have been set aside. In order to prevent the wickets from turning or disintegrating, they must, of course, leave a reasonable amount of grass. Therefore, I believe there will be nice wickets to bat on. However, in Dubai, it is unquestionably advantageous to bat second. It’s usually a little slower throughout the day if you’re playing during the day and it extends into the night,” he continued.

15 ILT20 2025 matches were held in Dubai.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium hosted 15 matches at the just finished ILT20 2025. With an economy rate of 7.53 and an unimpressive overall average of almost 30, spinners have bowled 210.5 overs in 15 games and claimed just 54 wickets.

'This is not T20, this not a little party'- David Lloyd feels one-day format will be a challenge for Arshdeep Singh

The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday, February 21, had an unusual atmosphere at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium. Never in the WPL's history had such a large crowd gathered to support their team during a match. Thousands of fervent cricket fans transformed the stadium into a swarm of activity and enthusiasm, creating an atmosphere of unmatched energy. The pressure became so great that MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur had to cover her ears to block out the roaring applause and encouragement from the RCB fans. A roar of enthusiasm greeted each wicket, boundary, and unbelievable occasion, making the evening one that the women's cricket community will never forget. After winning the toss, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana chose to bat first and got off to a respectable start with a solid 26 from 13 balls. Ellyse Perry, however, was the woman who stole the show. With an incredible 81 runs off 43 deliveries, she was the innings' mainstay. With 11 fours and two enormous sixes in her innings, which was full of traditional stroke play, RCB managed to score a respectable 167 runs off 7 wickets in 20 overs. The Chinnaswamy crowd continued their abiding love and support as MI came in to chase in the second innings. The stadium blew out with every wicket taken, every dot ball delivered by RCB’s bowlers, creating an experience beyond imagination with the home advantage. Nevertheless, MI batters held up their nerve, and regardless of the adverse crowd, chased down the target, losing 6 wickets. Despite RCB falling out a little less, the match will forever be cherished for the humongous crowd support, the passionate aura, and the growing popularity of women’s cricket. The view experienced at Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru tested the essence of women’s cricket and is all set to soar high. This wasn't just a normal cricket game, it was a testament to women's sports.
