'No one sees that because it isn't aired.' Riyan Parag reveals '350 overs' contribute behind success with ball

Riyan Parah’s play for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2024 Indian Premier League stole the show. With his 573 in 16 games, the right-hand hitter cleared the path for his debut in India. He went to Zimbabwe for the five-match Twenty20 International series, however his performance was lacklustre as he only managed 24 runs in two innings. But when he was called up for the Sri Lanka series, to everyone’s astonishment, his bowling was well regarded.

In the first Twenty20 International match against Sri Lanka, Riyan Parag took three wickets at a cost of five runs while bowling just eight balls. The antics were in line with Indian management’s strategy of using hitters as backup bowlers. The 22-year-old, who has bowled about 350 overs in the domestic season, has acknowledged that rolling the arm over is nothing new to him. Everyone believes that I have improved my bowling in particular.

However, I have won matches in domestic cricket. Every season, I bowl about 350 overs, Riyan Parag said to the Sports with Ravish YouTube channel.

It isn’t televised, therefore no one sees it. That means that it has persisted for a while. Sincerely, I would like to accomplish that. But since I bowled in the IPL and for India, people have noticed it more. But I haven’t taken any further action in that regard.”

Parag is presently competing for India A in the Duleep Trophy, managed by Shubman Gill. It’s important to remember that Gill was captain during the young player’s debut cap during the Zimbabwe series. The right-handed hitter has made no secret of his admiration for Virat Kohli, and as luck would have it, Kohli gave him his ODI cap in Sri Lanka. In addition, the former captain of India described Parag as an Indian team match-winner in the future.
