Zubeen Garg, a well-known Assamese and Bollywood musician, passed away unexpectedly, and tributes have been coming in from all directions. Indian cricketer Riyan Parag is among those impacted; he sent a heartfelt tweet lamenting the passing of the iconic musician.
After a terrible scuba diving accident in Singapore, the 52-year-old singer died on September 19. To perform at the North East Festival, the well-known vocalist travelled to the island nation. Garg reportedly wore a life jacket at first but quickly took it off due to discomfort. He was discovered floating in the sea a short while after. Doctors tried to save him right away and took him to Singapore General Hospital, but they were unable.
His sudden passing has left a huge hole in the music business, especially in Assam, where he was revered as a cultural figure. When his mortal remains arrived, thousands of admirers flocked to Guwahati to offer their final condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also offered their sympathies and acknowledged Garg’s contribution to Indian music.
Riyan Parag, who is from Assam, found the loss to be extremely painful.
Garg was referred to as Dabangg Mama by the young cricket player. In a heartfelt video, Riyan Parag portrayed the singer as a warrior who not only transformed Assamese music but also made it famous across the country with hits like Ya Ali from the 2006 movie Gangster.
In a video message, Riyan Parag stated, “Aap agar nahi talai to main Jubin Garg ki baat kar raha hoon. I used to call him Dabang Mama because he was such a warrior.”
