Rishabh Pant will be an all-time great in Tests, but he needs to improve in shorter formats: Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India, thinks Rishabh Pant has what it takes to go down as the all-time best in red-ball cricket. For the national squad, the keeper-batter has performed admirably, amassing 2271 runs at an average of 43.67 across 33 games. He was crucial to India’s victories over Australia in the 2020–21 campaign and the away series against England in the subsequent year.

He missed almost eighteen months of activity due to an injury, but he has returned to red-ball cricket recently. Interestingly, the 26-year-old performed admirably in both the batting and keeping roles in the Duleep Trophy opener, helping him secure a call-up for the Test series against Bangladesh. Prior to that, Ganguly mentioned Rishabh Pant significance in Test cricket and said he is not shocked by

Rishabh Pant bravery, but he also mentioned that the player from Hardidwar will need to do better in the game’s abbreviated format.

“Rishabh Pant is among India’s best Test batsmen, in my opinion. His return to the team does not come as a surprise, and he will still play Test cricket for India. If he continues to play this well in tests, he will be an all-time great. He needs to improve in the shorter formats, in my opinion. Speaking to the media in Kolkata, Ganguly stated, “With the talent he has, I’m sure he will become one of the best with time.”

Sourav Ganguly begins by criticising India’s bowling team.

Mohammed Shami will resume playing professionally before India’s visit of Australia later in the year, according to Ganguly. He said that India has a very good bowling unit even without him and that the spinners will come out on top in the forthcoming series against Bangladesh, which is set to start on September 19.

“I am aware that Mohammed Shami is absent due to an injury, but given that India is travelling to Australia, he will return very soon. Still, this is a fairly strong strike. You’ll see a lot more spin in India. You’ll notice a lot more bounce in Chennai.

The four greatest spinners in the world right now are Axar, Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Ashwin. It won’t be simple. Spinners have far more influence over the game when they play in India. But India has a very strong team, according to Ganguly.
