On Monday, July 7, a number of well-known figures attended the storied Wimbledon Championships, including India’s vice captain Rishabh Pant. Rishabh Pant made a sleek appearance at the All England Club in London the day after playing in the second Test of the current India vs. England series at Edgbaston.
One of India’s top players in the Test series thus far, Rishabh Pant took a break between games to watch a tennis match on Centre Court. The southpaw was greeted on Wimbledon’s official Instagram account. “Greetings from #Wimbledon, @rishabpant
With two hundreds in the first Test innings and 25 and 65 in the Edgbaston Test, Rishabh Pant has had an incredible run in the first two Test matches. Pant was instrumental in helping India tie the series following the defeat in the first Test, scoring 342 runs at an average of 85.50 over four innings.
Among the cricket stars spotted at Wimbledon were Virat and Root.
With his wife Anushka Sharma by his side, former India captain Virat Kohli was spotted taking in the Round of 16 match between Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur. Recently departed from Test cricket, Kohli praised Djokovic in an Instagram story. What a game. The gladiator was going about his business as usual. The tennis icon then responded, saying, “Thank you for supporting,” in appreciation of the cricket player’s help.
Notably, there were other cricket players at Wimbledon besides Rishabh Pant.
James Anderson and Joe Root of England were also in the Centre Court. Anderson was sat a few rows back in the Royal Box, while Root, England’s leading run scorer in Test cricket, was spotted shaking hands with Swiss great Roger Federer. Sports figures like swimmer Mark Foster and football player Chris Kamara were also present, along with legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara. Wimbledon shared a vintage photo of MS Dhoni at Centre Court to wish him a happy 44th birthday.
Returning to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the third Test match between England and India is scheduled to begin on July 10 at London’s storied Lord’s Cricket Ground.
