Rinku Singh Thanks KKR for Support

India’s team, which is presently participating in the 2025 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates, includes Rinku Singh. But so far, the bold left-handed batter hasn’t been given a chance to play. He is vying with players like Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma for a spot in the starting lineup. Rinku may have to wait a little while longer to play in his debut Asia Cup match because both players have performed admirably in India’s opening two games thus far.

After displaying his skills with the Uttar Pradesh squad and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lineup, Rinku Singh made his India debut in August 2023. Since 2018, the Aligarh native has been a member of the KKR squad. The Kolkata-based team, however, believed in his potential and continued to wait for the ideal moment to regularly use him in the middle order.

Rinku Singh didn’t get many IPL playing opportunities in his early years.

Rinku Singh brought up a 2021 incident in which he hurt himself during a home game against Railways. After attempting to go for a double, he hurt his knee. Rinku Singh stated that he was more worried about missing the upcoming IPL season than he was about the pain or the severity of the injury.

“KKR helped me when I needed it most.” After my 2021 knee injury, there was a period when I was afraid of the worst. I was on new shoes and spikes and was batting against Railways. In an interview with Raj Shamani, Rinku stated, “I heard a crack as soon as I tapped my bat for a quick double and just fell to the ground.”

“Being ruled out was my initial thinking. My contract was worth ₹80 lakh at the moment, and I valued that money under the given conditions. It was a meniscus tear, according to an MRI,” he continued.

After undergoing surgery, the small cricket player spent nearly four months recovering before making a comeback to the domestic scene. As he set out on his journey to a comeback, Rinku thanked KKR for believing in his ability.

I wasn’t sure if I would be chosen again, despite my strong performance on the domestic circuit. LSG and KKR both put up bids for me that year, and KKR ultimately paid ₹55 lakh to get me. I thought I had another opportunity to prove myself at that point,” he added.

In 58 games with KKR, the 27-year-old has amassed 1099 runs at a strike rate of 145.18 and an average of 30.53. At a strike rate of 161.07 and an average of 42, he has amassed 546 runs from 24 innings in Twenty20 Internationals.
