Before the two teams’ match at Eden Gardens, RBI Rinku Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and star batsman Virat Kohli of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had an amusing yet awkward talk. This rematch of the rivalry is scheduled to take place in Kolkata on Sunday, April 21.
This season, KKR and RCB will play each other for the second time. The Knight Riders prevailed in their first encounter, even though Kohli scored an incredible 83 off 59 balls. In recognition of Rinku’s quick development, the RCB batsman gave the young player one of his bats after that game. But as Rinku has now disclosed, he regrettably broke that willow of grace.
Rinku was filmed by KKR’s camera crew briefing Kohli about the circumstances prior to the match. The RCB player questioned Rinku if Kohli was already asking for a replacement bat as he examined two of his own. Before Rinku could answer, Kohli joked that he would have problems later in the competition if he gave him two bats in two matches.

You broke it against a spinner?: Virat Kohli
A video of the two cricket players talking about the broken bat was uploaded by KKR on their official Twitter account. “Virat bhai, ek bat diya thha aye… The caption said, “Jo bat diya thha, woh mere se toot gaya.” The exchange proceeded as follows:
Rinku Singh: I broke the bat (you gave) against a spinner.
Virat Kohli: My bat?
Rinku Singh: Yes
Virat Kohli: You broke it against a spinner? Where did you get it from?
Rinku Singh: From the middle.
Virat Kohli: What should I do then?
Rinku Singh: I was just informing you.
Virat Kohli: No problem. It was good that you told me. But I don’t need information.
(Rinku then starts knocking the ball on two of Virat’s bats.)
Virat Kohli: This bat is no good.
Rinku Singh: Are you sending one?
Virat Kohli: To whom am I sending?
Rinku Singh: You can keep it (returns Virat’s bats to him)
Rinku Singh: You took a bat from me previously. Now you want a second bat in the second game? Because of you, I will face consequences later.
Virat Kohli: I swear on you, won’t break the bat again. I can show you the broken bat

After KKR defeated RCB by seven wickets in their first Bengaluru encounter, Kohli gave Rinku a special gift—the bat. Virat was shown in the video refusing Rinku’s amusing request for yet another bat from the famous cricket player.

With eight points and four victories in six games, the team captained by Shreyas Iyer is now third in the standings. However, with just two points and a single victory thus far, the team captained by Faf du Plessis is mired at the bottom of the standings.
