Rinku Singh Applauds Yash Dayal's Redemption at Chinnaswamy

Rinku Singh thanked Yash Dayal on social media after the left-arm seamer maintained composure in the final over of Saturday, May 18,’s vital Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After winning by a score of 27 runs on the penultimate day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 league season, the hosts were able to advance to the playoffs.

Although Chennai needed to win the game by 219 runs, 201 was the necessary score to guarantee them a spot in the postseason. To qualify for the playoffs, RCB have to limit the reigning champions to 201 or less. The visitors required 17 runs in the final over, and MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were positioned nicely at the crease. For the final over, captain Faf du Plessis had to decide between Cameron Green and Yash Dayal. The seasoned South African provided support to the pacer born in Allahabad, and it proved to be beneficial.

With Yash Dayal having bowled a leg-stump full-toss that Dhoni casually swung away for a 110-meter six over fine-leg, the over got off to a terrible start. The calculation reduced to 11 balls needed from the last five. The famous wicketkeeper-batter had the odds stacked high in his favour. But Yash Dayal l bounced back, surprising the former captain of India with a slower delivery. His swipe got a huge top edge, and Swapnil Singh securely pouched the catch at deep backward square leg. To help RCB advance to the playoffs, the left-arm seamer gave up just one run in the final four deliveries.

The 26-year-old speedster’s stunning comeback was highlighted by his Uttar Pradesh teammate Rinku Singh hitting five sixes in the final over of the Gujarat Titans vs. Kolkata Knight Riders match from the previous season.

After the fiasco, Yash Dayal was dropped from the Titans lineup and was later cut before the IPL 2024 auction. He relocated to RCB, where the management started him in 13 of the 14 league games. His confidence really increased as a result, and he performed admirably for his team when it counted most. Rinku sent the seamen a note of congratulations following his valiant actions.
