On Tuesday, July 30, in Pallekele, India overcame Sri Lanka in the Super Over of the third Twenty20 international match. Rinku Singh then defeated rivals Riyan Parag and Ravi Bishnoi to earn the coveted Impact Fielder of the Series medal.
In the three-match series, the Men in Blue easily defeated Sri Lanka, giving Suryakumar Yadav a memorable start to his leadership career. The youthful Indian team displayed some amazing fielding performances throughout the series.
Ryan ten Doeschate, one of India’s two new assistant coaches, presented the trophy to Rinku Singh, one of the fastest and safest fielders in Indian cricket.
The little cricket player claimed five catches in the series, one of which came on Tuesday in the Super Over. When Rinku was given the medal, he exclaimed, “God’s plan, baby!” with excitement.

Fielding coach T Dilip thanked the players for their efforts on the pitch despite the unfavourable ground conditions in his traditional speech prior to the presentation. He made the comparison between being a fielder in T20 cricket and being a firefighter, pointing out that both require constant excellence. Rinku had previously taken home the Imact Player of the Series award during the recent five-match T20I tour of Zimbabwe, therefore this was his second straight year winning it.
“The winner started the innings somewhat poorly, especially in the second game under extremely difficult conditions. Though he made a few blunders, he didn’t do badly; instead, he kept trying more, running harder, and coming after everything. Rinku Singh is the medal winner for this series, Ten Doeschate stated in the video that the BCCI shared on their official social media accounts.

Shubman Gill top-scored for the tourists with a 37-ball 39, but India huffed and puffered their way to 137/9 in the third Twenty20 international. With the ball, Maheesh Theekshana was Sri Lanka’s standout player, amassing a three-for. In response, the hosts lost seven wickets for 22 runs towards the conclusion of the innings, forcing a Super Over in which India triumphed.
