Ricky Ponting, a legendary former Australia captain, said that England‘s Ollie Robinson hasn’t been very dangerous against Australia in the current Ashes 2023. Notably, Pat Cummins led Australia to a dramatic win in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, giving them a 1-0 lead. They will try to keep their lead in the Lord’s Test.
Robinson has done well so far. Among other wickets, the pacer took the important wickets of Usman Khawaja in the first Test and Marnus Labuschagne in the current Lord’s Test. But Ponting brought up a different point of view and said that the English pacer hasn’t had much of an effect on the current game, despite having impressive skills.
“I don’t think he has ever seemed scary in the show. I mean, if you look at the catches, he has always gotten the last players out. Yes, Marnus Labuschagne was caught by him in this game. But then he got (Josh) Hazlewood and (Nathan) Lyon. So, if he didn’t get out the 10 and 11, his game would end with one wicket and more than four runs per over, as Ponting said on the ICC Review.
“There’s no question that he’s a very good bowler, and no one would have said anything about Ollie Robinson if he hadn’t started all the back-and-forth that’s been going on over the last few weeks. I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, to be honest,” he said.

For those who don’t know, Ollie Robinson and Ponting had a heated argument off the pitch after Khawaja was sent off in a rude way during the first Ashes Test. After Khawaja was sent off, Robinson used Ponting’s acts on the pitch during his time with Australia to explain why he did what he did to Khawaja.
Ponting didn’t hold back his criticism of the pacer and said that Robinson would have to “work on his performances” if he wanted his words to be taken seriously. The Three Lions will be looking to quickly get back on track after losing the first Test and tie the five-match series with the Australians.
