Richa Ghosh takes charge as ACP Siliguri

Richa Ghosh, the recent World Cup champion for India, formally became a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the West Bengal Police. The 22-year-old batsman and wicketkeeper, who was instrumental in India’s first Women’s World Cup victory, has been named Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the Siliguri Commissionerate.

The West Bengal government had earlier announced Richa’s appointment as a thank you for her role in India’s historic Women’s World Cup victory. Soon after the competition, she was honoured by the state, which praised her on-field prowess and the glory she brought to Bengal as the first state cricketer to win a World Cup title.

When Richa Ghosh arrived for work at Bhabani Bhavan, she was greeted by State Police Director General Rajiv Kumar and given her official clothes. Videos and pictures of her induction were shared by the West Bengal Police.
