Richa Ghosh on her batting mantra after India’s World Cup win

Ahead of the 2025 Women’s World Cup, Richa Ghosh has disclosed the batting elements she focused on. In eight games, she amassed 235 runs at a strike rate of 133.52. Richa emphasized that her primary goal was to play more grounded shots and rotate the attack while spending more time in the middle.

“I really concentrated on extending my innings and spending more time at the crease prior to the World Cup. I focused on hitting grounded shots and being careful not to throw away my wicket whenever I had the opportunity to play. For me, it was all about holding up one end and keeping the scoreboard moving with singles. Speaking on “Follow The Blues,” Richa Ghosh said, “That’s what I worked on the most.”

The wicketkeeper-batter, who played a key role in India’s first Women’s World Cup victory, stated that she maintained the objective of playing aggressively in order to put pressure on the opposition.

“My primary responsibility was to score runs rapidly in the last overs to end the innings strongly. Applying the finishing touches was my main goal whenever I had the opportunity to bat. My goal was to keep up a high strike rate while applying pressure to the opposing bowlers.

Our team feels less pressured and has a better chance of winning when we score those extra runs,” Richa Ghosh continued.

In the group round match against South Africa, Richa Ghosh achieved her highest score of the tournament (94 off 77). Eleven fours and four sixes made up her knock. Nadine de Klerk’s undefeated 84 off 54, however, put the Proteas across the finish line with three wickets and seven balls remaining, but it was a losing cause.

On November 2, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, India exacted revenge on the Laura Wolvaardt-led team in the major event final. In India’s 52-run victory, Richa played a crucial 34-run knock in 24 balls that included three fours and two sixes.
