Ace Indian cricketer Richa Ghosh has been counselled by six-time Grand Slam champion Sania Mirza to keep her beliefs and game unaffected by opinions. A key member of India’s team that won the 2025 Women’s World Cup was Richa Ghosh.
Sania acknowledged that all of the criticism she received made her “thick-skinned” during a fireside talk with the wicketkeeper-batter at the Future Makers Conclave, which was conducted as part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025.
It caused my skin to become incredibly thick. In fact, it’s very funny to me. I find it hilarious that people who have never held a boxing glove, tennis racket, or cricket bat can have such strong opinions about what you do for a living. Your day cannot be made or broken by social media, so you don’t take the good or the bad personally. That can’t be that significant. “How your loved ones feel about you, how you communicate with them, and how they feel about you can make or ruin your day,” Sania said, as cited by India Today.
Richa Ghosh claimed that she had been viewing criticism favourably. The 22-year-old went into detail about why she would prefer to get more criticism.
In all honesty, I view it favourably since, in the early days of women’s cricket, we didn’t have many fans or followers. However, the criticism will increase in tandem with the growing numbers. I make an effort to view that aspect favourably. More people attend the game when we receive more criticism. That, in my opinion, is encouraging since it indicates that more people are paying attention, that they appreciate what women’s cricket is accomplishing, and they recognise its worth. And as cricket grows in popularity these days, more people flock to watch,” Richa continued.
India defeated South Africa in the final of the massive event held in Navi Mumbai on November 2 to win their first Women’s World Cup.
Richa Ghosh scored 235 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 133.52 and an average of 39.16.
