In the second ODI of the series, Australia scored 258 runs while batting first at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The team ultimately won by three runs in a thrilling match, but skipper Alyssa Healy stated she thought the visitors were 30–40 runs short. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team got off to a strong start in the chase until Richa Ghosh, batting at number three, provided them with much-needed impetus.
Before Annabel Sutherland caught the 20-year-old, she had scored 96 and was just short of a century. She and Jemimah Rodrigues forged a crucial 88-run combination that kept India in the game, but as soon as Richa Ghosh returned to the pavilion, the wickets tumbled like a house of cards. Healy acknowledged the significance of Richa’s wicket and stated that it was a game-changing moment.
However, I believe that the gang realized they were in this together when we acquired Richa Ghosh when she was 96.
“With the bat, I felt like we were maybe 20, 30 or even 40 runs short.Don’t get me wrong, but we could have probably caught her sooner. However, we were aware of the pressure when we made that catch. They spent an extended amount of time lingering near a run-a-ball.
Healy was cited by Cricket.com.au as saying, “We just knew if we kept creating dot balls and kept creating pressure, then chances would come and that’s exactly what this team has been really, really good at for a long period of time and we did it again tonight.”

In the first ODI, young Phoebe Litchfield was named Player of the Match. She then helped Australia establish momentum in the second match by scoring a half-century once more. Sutherland, 22, was as brilliant as she claimed three wickets. Healy expressed her admiration for the youth and her hope that the nation will create more victorious athletes.
The fact that these girls are able to play international-level cricket at home in Australia against the world’s greatest players and get that experience speaks volumes about our group, our domestic structure, and the WBBL in particular. It’s fantastic, and hopefully we can keep turning out more and more Australian match winners,” Healy said.
