Review of the statistics from Bangladesh's second victory over India in the Super Four of the 2023 Asia Cup, including Jadeja's achievement and other statistics

Despite a spectacular century from Gill, Bangladesh defeated India by a margin of 6 runs in the last game of the Super Four of the Super 11 Asia Cup 2023 because to tenacious fifty-scores from Shakib Al Hasan and Towrid Hridoy and an all-around bowling performance.

India won the toss for this game and decided to bowl first. At 28/3, Bangladesh was in trouble when Mohammed Shami struck first, dismissing Litton Das with the second delivery for a duck. Tanzid Hasan was then removed by Shardul Thakur for 13, and Anamul Haque was also removed by Thakur for 4 runs in the sixth over. Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s brief visit of 13 was ended by Axar Patel.

With a 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Shakib Al Hasan and Towrid Hridoy spearheaded the revival. Each of them reached their individual fifty-run scores during the partnership. As Thakur once more cleaned him up, Shakib was dismissed for 80, and Hridoy was eliminated for 54. Down the order, Nasum Ahmed (43 off 44), Mahedi Hasan (29* off 23), and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (14* off 8) all made cameo appearances to help Bangladesh achieve a respectable total of 265/8 in 50 overs. Thakur was the bowler of choice for India thanks to his 10-over stint of 3/65.

Chasing 266, Indian hitters fell short of expectations. Debutant Sakib dismissed skipper Rohit for a duck off the second delivery, while Tilak Varma was out for only five runs thanks to more excellent bowling from Sakib. But before Rahul fell for the third time for 19 runs, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul put up a fifty-run stand for the third wicket to keep the chase alive. Shubman Gill, who reached his fifth ODI century, was outstanding in the chase.

Before falling to Mahedi Hasan for the second time, Gill scored 121 runs off 133 balls. Before Mustafizur removed him in the last over, Axar Patel had contributed significantly down the order with a 42-run knock. After Mustafizur bowled a devastating over that yielded just five runs and two wickets with 17 runs needed in the next two overs, the equation was eventually reduced to 12 off 6 runs. Tanzim Hasan successfully guarded it and won by six runs.

Let’s examine the numbers and statistics from India vs. Bangladesh’s Super Four match:

2 – After Dilip Vengsarkar, Rohit Sharma became the second Indian skipper to record a scoreless ODI at the Asia Cup.

2 – Bangladesh has defeated India in ODIs at the Asia Cup twice; their previous victory occurred in 2012.

Shubman Gill scored 121 runs in the Asia Cup ODI, which is the third-highest total by an Indian opener. Shikhar Dhawan comes in at 127, just behind Ganguly at 135*.

Musafizur Rahman took his 150th ODI wicket, bringing his total to 151.

The milestone of 200 ODI wickets was reached by Ravindra Jadeja.

Nasum Ahmed’s 44 runs in the match against India are the best total by a Bangladesh batsman in an ODI at the Asia Cup while batting at position six or lower.

Rohit Sharma made 200 international catches in total.

The fifth-wicket partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Towrid Hridoy, at 101 runs, was the second-highest for Bangladesh in ODIs for the Asia Cup. The top score is 103 by Akram Khan and Najmur Rahman in 2000 versus India in Dhaka.
