In Match No. 3 of the Pakistan Super League 2025, the Karachi Kings pulled off one of their most dramatic comebacks in PSL history, defeating the Multan Sultans by four wickets after chasing down an incredible 235.
The game, which took place on Saturday at Karachi’s National Stadium, was a run-fest that saw 470 runs scored overall and two outstanding hundreds.
After skipper Mohammad Rizwan’s brilliant, undefeated 105 off 63 balls anchored their innings, the Sultans, who were sent in to bat first, appeared to be in a strong position to win. Later in the innings, Michael Bracewell scored an undefeated 44 off just 17 balls, while Kamran Ghulam (36 off 19) provided assistance for Rizwan. The spinners from Karachi managed to limit the score to 234/3 even though they gave up 22 extras. Khushdil Shah, Abbas Afridi, and Hasan Ali each claimed one wicket.
David Warner’s dubious LBW decision opened Karachi’s innings in response, and the middle order swiftly fell apart. The Kings needed something spectacular because they were in a difficult situation at 79 for 4 in the seventh over. The only people who could save the side were Khushdil and James Vince. After reaching his fifty in twenty-three balls, Vince went on to score 101 off forty-three balls, adding four sixes and fourteen fours to his innings. Khushdil made 60 of 37 deliveries, which was another contribution.
Once almost unachievable, the pair pulled together a 142-run partnership that not only saved Karachi but also put them in a winning position. The Kings came quite near to hitting the target even though they lost wickets, including Vince getting run out and Khushdil being bowled by Akif Javed. With four balls remaining in the chase, Irfan Khan and Abbas Afridi maintained their composure. As Kings achieved the third-highest successful chase in PSL history, Vince was named Player of the Match.
