On April 5, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host a match between the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Just before the game, there was a hitch in the intense contest. The Hyderabad Cricket Association allegedly neglected to pay DISCOM’s electricity bill. Consequently, the stadium’s electricity has been turned off.
According to the report, the HCA was unable to pay the outstanding electrical bills of 1.6 crore. The amount owed resulted from seven years of unsuccessful payments. The board disregarded the primary notice, which the association received in February 2024. In exchange, the department turned off the stadium’s electricity supply.

“The Hyderabad Cricket Stadium has lost electricity in advance of the IPL match. The HCA has not paid a Rs. 1. 6 crore bill owed to DISCOM in seven years. They had earlier gone to court and asked that their plea be taken into consideration. In February 2024, the first notification was given. Despite many follow-ups, HCA didn’t provide any feedback. According to the report by Newsmeter, “The department has already disconnected the power supply.”
The Sunrisers Hyderabad give the IPL spectacular purpose.
With their impressive roster on paper, many had predicted Sunrisers Hyderabad to steal the show, and they have been living up to the hype they generated following the IPL auctions. For an incredible 20.5 crore, they even purchased Pat Cummins. Cummins eventually took Aiden Markram’s spot as captain. Over time, the management sought to capitalize on the captain’s luck with the trophies.
They did not, however, start well, losing their first game to the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the IPL history they wrote against the Mumbai Indians was unprecedented. The group went on to break the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s long-standing record for the highest total. Against MI, they scored 277 runs and won by a score of 31 runs.
