Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, according to Robin Uthappa, remind him of the legendary opening pair of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. The most successful opening duo in the history of ODI cricket is Sourav and Sachin. They shared 21 centuries and 23 half-centuries while amassing 6609 runs at the top of the order from 136 innings at an average of 49.32.
Yashasvi, who has only participated in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals for the Asian heavyweights, and Shubman are yet to open an ODI. In 10 innings, the game’s shortest format, the two gifted cricket players have already amassed two half-centuries and as many hundred runs.
Like the two past Indian cricket captains, Shubman and Yashasvi complement each other, according to Uthappa, who played international cricket alongside Sourav and Sachin.
They do remind me of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar when they used to go out together because of the way their games complemented one another.

Yashasvi has scored 1,028 and 723 runs in nine Tests and twenty-three Twenty20 Internationals thus far. In tests, he is averaging 68.53, while in T20Is, it is 36.15. In the two formats combined, the Mumbai batter has amassed four hundreds and nine half-centuries. When given the chance, Uthappa supported Yashasvi in securing his place in the ODI squad and gave an explanation of why he will find it simpler to score runs in the format.

“To be honest, I think that when he (Jaiswal) gets the chance to play ODI cricket, he would take advantage of it right away because, compared to Test and T20I cricket, ODI cricket will be much simpler for him. Uthappa said, “because he will think I have all the time in the world to score runs.”
