As RCB chased down a daunting 228-run total at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Virat Kohli produced a crucial knock with his 30-ball 54, setting the stage for players like Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal to capitalise. The 36-year-old Kohli’s graceful innings included ten fours.
On Tuesday, May 27, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final round-robin match, securing second place on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table. With the victory, RCB has two chances to go to the final.
Abhinav Mukund, a former cricket player for India, believes that Virat Kohli was annoyed with RCB’s poor bowling performance and first-inning misfields. According to the former, Kohli vented his annoyance on the bowlers from LSG.
“With all due respect to Virat Kohli, I sense that he became agitated after that opening inning, which is terrible news for someone because it turned out to be LSG today. The rage from the first innings, those misfields, and the lacklustre bowling performance were all there when he entered. “I feel like it gave him another gear,” Mukund remarked.
Given how well-controlled he appeared during his performance, Mukund thought this was one of Virat Kohli best half-centuries in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
“His batting was excellent. Based on my observations, I believe this to be one of his greatest fifty of the season because he would have received at least 80–85% (of control) or more in any effort. It’s amazing to have that,” he continued.
In 13 IPL 2025 innings, Virat Kohli has amassed 602 runs at an average of 60.20 and a strike rate of 147.92. To date, the former captain of India has amassed eight half-centuries. Jitesh Sharma’s undefeated 33-ball 85 put RCB across the finish line after his half-century. With six wickets and eight balls remaining, RCB reached the enormous goal, making it their most successful run-chase in IPL history.
