Even though the Yellow Brigade’s season is coming to a close, many are still interested in CSK legend MS Dhoni‘s future in the competition. On Sunday, May 25, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will square off in the season’s last match at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The renowned wicketkeeper-batter said he will use the next eight months to determine whether he is fit for the upcoming year, but he has not made an official decision regarding his future. During the pre-game news conference, CSK’s assistant coach Sridharan Sriram was asked about the five-time IPL champion’s future.
The former Indian cricket player has stated that he is not aware of his retirement intentions, but that captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, and head coach Stephen Fleming all have a clear vision for the team’s future.
Not as much as I am aware of. I’m not sure what will happen, but Fleming and MS, Ruturaj, seem to be a wonderful thing. They understand exactly what went wrong and what has to be done. Therefore, I believe that the path forward is rather clear, which is a huge plus,” Sriram stated.
It is unjust to attribute any particular thing to one thing: Sriram
Sriram also gave some thought to the franchise’s dismal season, which has left them at the bottom of the standings. In a forthright statement, the 49-year-old former batting all-rounder acknowledged that the season did not go as planned and that it was inappropriate to place the responsibility on a single factor.
“Everyone is aware that the season has not gone as planned. The middle order is not the only issue; our performance throughout the year and the outcomes are also important factors. Therefore, it’s unjust to blame any one thing,” Sriram continued.
