Virat Kohli, a former captain and star batsman for India, is well-known for his aggressive style and youthful zeal on the field. He not only commemorates his own accomplishments but also demonstrates unwavering enthusiasm and love for his colleagues’ successes.
It’s interesting to note that he was keen to pick up tips from his “forever leader” and best buddy, MS Dhoni, even though he was still the vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team. Kohli never hesitated to keep his head up and make decisions on the field, even in those days. His friendship with the previous world champion captain was so strong that he never hesitated to make suggestions about field placements and devise plans to get the opposition out.
Even more amazing is the fact that, although controlling the game with his characteristic coolness, Dhoni always gave his players a voice and recognized the potential leadership talent that Kohli could develop into.
Notably, the legend from Almora had long recognized that Team India required a new leader as they were going through a transitional phase. As a result, he mentored Kohli and assisted him in developing into a future captain. The iconic number 18 Virat Kohli recently revealed that he may have appeared to MS Dhoni to be a “crazy” boy because of the way he advised field placements and other things during an RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) game.
“I was constantly in MSD’s ears as the vice captain of India, suggesting field placements and telling him, ‘We can have a fielder here or there.'” I must have seemed insane to him. Virat Kohli stated during the Indian sports conference hosted by the RCB Innovation Lab.
In fact, I have no idea what I’ll be doing after I retire: Virat Kohli
In addition, Virat Kohli was questioned about his post-retirement plans at the same event. The Indian stalwart responded to this by saying that he was still working things out and had not yet developed a strategy. He also disclosed that, despite talking with one of his colleagues, neither of them had any firm plans for anything other than playing cricket for the national team. He did not, however, hesitate to acknowledge his passion for international travel.
“To be honest, I have no idea what I’ll be doing after I retire. I recently asked the same question to a teammate and received the same response. Yes, but perhaps a lot of traveling,” Virat Kohli said in closing.
As the 2025 T20 cricket tournament is scheduled to start on March 22, the star hitter arrived in Bengaluru on Saturday, March 15, to join his IPL team.
