Virat Kohli is among the most important athletes in the world. In India, there is a lot of interest in the cricket player’s private life and the rumors that surround him. Even during cricket matches, discussions on Kohli’s cricketing and non-cricketing lives keep fans engaged. When Virat Kohli returned with the Ranji Trophy earlier this year, the kind of lunch he had with his teammates became a heated topic of talk. Broadcasters have even discussed Kohli’s earlier love of chhole bhature and how he resisted the urge to become the guy he is today.
To assist India become a sports-forward nation, Virat wants the broadcasters to present stories about the athletes’ preparation and activities rather than their favorite chhole bhature place.
“Our goal is for India to become a sports-forward country. The vision is in our possession. Today, the foundation is being laid. Everyone concerned should share responsibility for it. It’s not simply about the people who provide the funding or the infrastructure. It also concerns the audience.
At the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Virat Kohli stated, “We need education.”
“A broadcast program should focus on the game rather than my favorite Delhi chole-bhature spot or what I had for lunch yesterday. That isn’t allowed during cricket matches. Instead, you may discuss the struggles that athletes face,” he continued.
Prior to the 2025 Indian Premier League season, Virat Kohli has joined the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team. The RCB administration chose to name their new star Rajat Patidar as the team’s captain for the upcoming season, despite rumors that Virat would take over. Nonetheless, Kohli will spend the entire season with the new skipper.
