Senior players’ disinterest in playing red-ball cricket, often known as domestic cricket, has been a topic of discussion since Team India’s disastrous performance in Australia. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), the premier cricket regulatory body in India, implemented a 10-point policy to make apologies for the future after noticing a decline in international results.
In the forthcoming Ranji Trophy match, another renowned Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, is not scheduled to play for Saurashtra after players Rohit and Pant made themselves available for their respective states. Jadeja is anticipated to play when Delhi plays. It is noteworthy that the Indian board has now mandated that all players participate in the home circuit. But if they don’t follow the recently published rules, they might have to pay the price.

As for Rishabh Pant, the great batsman-wicketkeeper, the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) recently confirmed and declared his inclusion in the Delhi side. Therefore, it seems expected that Pant will play in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra. But because of a neck issue, seasoned India batting mainstay Virat Kohli was unable to play against Delhi.

Additionally, on Saturday, the Champions Trophy team for India was revealed. Ajit Agarkar, the Chief Selector of the BCCI, explained to media the value of domestic cricket and the reasons why all players should participate for the advancement of Indian cricket.
It’s not, in my opinion, a diktat. It is undoubtedly one of the things that BCCI has proposed. But as I mentioned, we selectors expect players to play when they are available because it can only make our domestic structure stronger,” Agarkar remarked.
“It can only improve our domestic structure, not only because of their form or their level of fitness and ability to play cricket.” We thus expect everyone to play when the time permits,” he said in closing.
