Ravindra Jadeja downplays comparisons with Kapil Dev

After India’s crushing 140-run victory over the West Indies in the just finished first Test in Ahmedabad, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed comparisons to Kapil Dev. Jadeja’s 104* off 176 and 4/54 in 13 overs earned him the Player of the Match title.

When asked if he was targeting Kapil’s double of 400 Test wickets and 5000 runs, Ravindra Jadeja had this modest remark. As of right now, Ravindra Jadeja has amassed 3990 runs and 334 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja said that he does not place a lot of value on individual accomplishments.

“You are now exerting pressure on me, sir. I now have to consider taking another 60–70 wickets and reaching 1,000 runs. Right now, I’m having fun playing cricket. Other records and milestones are not on my mind. I’m trying to get more fit so I can keep doing what I’ve been doing for a long time. According to The Times of India, Jadeja said, “That’s about it.”

Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja discussed the team management’s thoughts on the declaration decision.

“Last night, we were also considering the declaration. We believed that 280 runs or more would be sufficient on this wicket (as a lead). That’s the problem, and we did a fantastic job of ending the second innings for the West Indies,” he continued.

For the Test team, Jadeja is now the vice-captain. In all forms of Indian cricket, he has been a mainstay. Jadeja’s exclusion from the ODI selection for the next white-ball series against Australia is noteworthy.

In the meantime, India will play Windies in Delhi in the series’ second match. The game is set to start at Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 10. The team captained by Shubman Gill will try to win the match handily and earn some vital points in the World Test Championship standings.
