During the exciting first session on Day 5 at the Home of Cricket, veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and in-form England seamer Brydon Carse were the main attractions. As the action between the two titans of international cricket became increasingly fierce, tensions rose once more during the Lord’s Test.
After Brydon Carse bowled the final ball of the 35th over, the event took place. Ravindra Jadeja rode the bounce to steer the short of length delivery behind square on the off-side after the right-arm seamer bowled it on the off-stump. Ravindra Jadeja was concentrating on the fielder’s movements throughout the initial run, and by the time he turned to face his running direction, he was forced to crash into Carse.
Despite the crash, Ravindra Jadeja recovered quickly enough to return for the second run.
However, the Saurashtra all-rounder didn’t hold back when Carse gave him a mouthful. When Ravindra Jadeja approached Carse, the two players engaged in a verbal altercation. But in order to prevent any potential for further escalation, England captain Ben Stokes positioned himself between the two players. The event was also being closely monitored by umpire Sharfuddoula.

On Day 5, England smelt victory at lunch.
On Day 5, India needed to win by 135 runs, and England was looking for six wickets. Early in the day, the Asian powerhouses lost the wicket of the highly effective Rishabh Pant, and they never fully bounced back. With India struggling at 82/7, KL Rahul and Washington Sundar were removed in quick succession.
Together with Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy batted with a great deal of guts and commitment, adding a 30-run partnership off 91 deliveries. However, Chris Woakes sent Reddy packing on the stroke of lunch. India is at 112/8 at lunchtime on day five, needing 81 more runs to win. With Jadeja batting at 17, all hopes are on her.
