Ravichandran Ashwin leaves the Rajkot Test match between India and England to be with his sick mother.

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has unexpectedly pulled out of the current third Test, citing a medical emergency in his family. Cricket fans were taken aback by the revelation, which has left the squad in disarray.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that Ashwin has their utmost support during this difficult period. The BCCI emphasized in a statement how crucial it is for the players’ and their families’ health and wellbeing. The cricket board has asked everyone to be considerate of Ashwin and his family’s privacy while they go through this trying time.

“Due to a family medical issue, Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test team, effective immediately. The squad and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fully support Ashwin during these trying times, the BCCI said in a press release.

Ashwin received a sympathetic note from the BCCI, which also promised to keep communication lines open and to continue offering Ashwin any support that he might require. The great cricket player must have found it difficult to decide whether to withdraw from the Test, and the BCCI’s recognition of the family situation shows their dedication to putting the players’ private lives first.

The BCCI Vice President, Rajeev Shukla, went on to explain Ashwin’s absence, saying the off-spinner had to go because of his mother’s illness.

“I’m wishing Ravichandran Ashwin’s mother a quick recovery. In order to be with his mother in Chennai, he has to hurry and leave Rajkot,” Rajeev Shukla posted on his X account.

The fastest Indian bowler to score 500 Test wickets was Ravichandran Ashwin.

India’s bowling lineup will be one player short for the duration of the Test due to Ashwin’s unavailability. While all was going on in Rajkot, Ravichandran Ashwin demonstrated his extraordinary abilities by getting rid of Zak Crawley and taking his 500th wicket in Test cricket, making history as the fastest Indian to do it in 98 matches. With 87 matches, Muttiah Muralidaran is the quickest person in the world, and he is ranked second thanks to this achievement. After Muralidaran, Ashwin is currently the third Asian and second Indian to reach 500 Test wickets.

He eclipsed Anil Kumble’s record during India’s 2021 tour of England by taking 400 Test wickets in 77 matches, and he went on to take 500 wickets in just 21 more matches. With 25,714 deliveries to reach this milestone, Ashwin trails only Glenn McGrath, who needed 25,528 deliveries to do the same. Ashwin has proven his ability to consistently take wickets by becoming the fastest Indian to reach every 50-wicket milestone from 50 to 450.
