Stats: Ravichandran Ashwin becomes first cricketer in Test history to score  20+ fifty plus scores, claim 30+ five-wicket hauls

Team India and Bangladesh are well into the first Test of the ongoing series between both sides. The first match began on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and the game saw India come in to bat first. However, the hosts found themselves in a spot of bother after the top order collapsed.

After early dismissals of players like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant stabilised the innings. The hits made by Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, though, were the day’s high point.

India finished Day 1 with a total of 339/6 runs after Ravichandran Ashwin’s 102* runs and Jadeja’s 86* runs helped pull the team out of a hazardous position.

Ravichandran Ashwin broke a world record on Day 1 with his century

The seasoned all-rounder made cricket history by being the first player to take more than 30 wickets in a Test match and score more than fifty runs. Ashwin is the only player to accomplish this in the 147-year history of Test cricket, which only serves to highlight how important an all-round player he has been for team India throughout the years in the longest format.

It’s also important to remember that Ashwin has four hundreds in Tests when batting eighth or lower. Daniel Vettori, a former all-rounder from New Zealand, now has five hundreds when batting at number eight or lower.

Regarding the match, Bangladesh performed admirably in containing India early on Day 2. After Ashwin left the game with a 113-run lead, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep each scored seven and seventeen runs respectively. India scored 376 runs in the first innings and would be looking to perform well with the ball as well.
