Rashid Khan will miss the remaining games of The Hundred 2024 due to a hamstring issue

Rashid Khan, the all-around talisman, has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of The Hundred 2024, dealing a severe setback to the Trent Rockets. On Saturday, August 10, at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, the 25-year-old suffered the injury while fielding in the last over of his team’s most recent match versus Southern Brave.

Australian spin-bowling all-rounder Chris Green has reportedly been brought in to take the place of the Afghanistan mainstay, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. With three victories and as many defeats from six games, the Rockets, who are ranked No. 5 on the points table, are still in the running for a position in the elimination round. They play the top-seeded Oval Invincibles on Wednesday, August 14, and fourth-place Birmingham Phoenix on Monday, August 12, in their last two round-robin games.

In addition to Rashid Khan, Imad Wasim was another injury setback for the Trent Rockets.

The Pakistani all-rounder, though, hasn’t been ruled out just yet and is expected to be fit for the crucial match against Birmingham.

Kieron Pollard of the Southern Braves took Rashid for five straight sixes in the Trent Rockets’ most recent game, and it proved to be a huge turning point. With one ball remaining, Trent Rockets lost by two wickets. But except from being mauled by Pollard, the man from Nangarhar had bowled well during the competition.

Rashid Khan took nine wickets with a strike rate of 11.11 and an average of 16 in five games. Even by his high standards, his economy rate (8.64) was on the higher side. With the bat, Rashid gave his fans some of his all-time great shots while scoring 44 runs at a strike percentage of 157.15.

After the 2023 ODI World Cup, Rashid had back surgery, and he returned early this year in time for the Indian Premier League. He guided Afghanistan to the T20 World Cup Super Eight round in June.
