Rashid Khan will donate all of his World Cup 2023 match costs to Afghanistan's earthquake victims.

Rashid Khan promised to support the Afghan people in a recent social media post after a deadly earthquake struck their country on Sunday, October 8. According to accounts, the devastating earthquake, which struck 40 kilometers west of Herat City in the western Herat Province, had a Richter scale reading of 6.3.

There have been over 2,000 documented fatalities and over 1,000 reported injuries. Star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who is currently in India for the ODI World Cup, posted on his ‘X’ and Instagram accounts after becoming aware of the dire situation in his country, announcing that he would donate his entire match fee from the championship event to the earthquake victims there.

Rashid Khan also said that he will be launching a fundraising initiative to aid Afghans.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic effects of the earthquake that shook Afghanistan‘s western provinces (Herat, Farah, and Badghis). To aid those impacted, I am giving up all of my #CWC23 match costs. The spin-bowling stalwart announced on Instagram and X that a fundraising initiative would soon be launched to solicit donations for individuals in need.

In the 2023 World Cup match against India, Afghanistan hopes to recover.

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Afghanistan and India will square off on Wednesday, October 11. In the ODI World Cup 2023, Afghanistan’s campaign got underway against Bangladesh. In a lopsided match against the “Bangla Tigers,” Hashmatullah Shahidi and company were defeated by six wickets.

Although India has a very powerful squad, it will be very difficult for Afghanistan to mount a great comeback. Rashid Khan, who has recently appeared a little off-color, will be optimistic about salvaging his team’s and himself’s situation.
