Rashid Khan kills lesser teams rather than fierce rivals: Aaron Varun

Rashid Khan is one of the best spinners in the world of white-ball cricket. He has been winning matches for Afghanistan in international cricket. Rashid played a significant role in his team’s 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal appearance and 2023 ODI World Cup win. Few hitters have continuously fared better than Rashid. However, he did not perform at his peak in the first match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Former Indian player Varun Aaron made a surprise statement regarding the seasoned spinner. He claims that Rashid is inefficient in the fifty-over format against strong opponents and excels against weaker teams.

In one-day internationals, Rashid Khan takes wickets against smaller teams rather than fierce competitors.

He participates in several T20 leagues across the globe, and the top players are aware of his bowling style and avoid giving him their wickets, he stated on Sports18.

Rashid has taken 199 ODI wickets at an average of over 20 in 113 games. He has given up runs at an economy of 4.21. Rashid Khan dismissed Ben Duckett for just 38 runs in Afghanistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 match against England. It should be mentioned that in the most recent match against Australia, Ducket had an incredible 165-run innings.

Piyush Chawla remained silent after being surprised by Varun’s viewpoint. He remarked, “You’re saying that a significant portion of his ODI wickets have come against associate nations.”
