After Afghanistan’s 3-0 thumping of Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi last month, legspinner Rashid Khan has risen to the top of the ODI bowling rankings.
During the series, Rashid, who was ranked first in November 2024, claimed 11 wickets at an economy rate of 2.73 and an average of 6.09.
Due to his performance, he moved up from sixth place and now has 710 rating points, 30 more than South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj.
Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 213 runs at an average of 71 in three innings against Bangladesh and was named Player of the Series, has risen eight spots to the second position in the ODI batting rankings, which is the highest ranking ever achieved by an Afghan batsman. Compared to Rohit Sharma at number three, he is eight points higher and 20 points lower than Shubman Gill at number one.
In the three ODIs against Bangladesh, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai took seven wickets, the second-most in the series, and scored 60 runs, regaining the top spot in the ODI rankings for all-rounders from Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza. Additionally, he had held the top spot from February to August.
After ending the two-match series against the West Indies as the leading wicket-taker, Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wristspinner for India, rose seven spots to 14th place, his highest ranking among Test bowlers to date. Kuldeep claimed 12 wickets at a 19.50 average. After scoring 175 in the first innings of the Delhi Test, India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up from seventh to fifth place.
