Ramiz Raja's counsel to Pakistan before their pivotal Asia Cup Super 4 match against Sri Lanka was to "don't touch social media."

Pakistan’s chances of making it to the championship game appear to have been revived by India’s victory against Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 encounter. While Sri Lanka’s victory seemed likely for much of the game, India’s eventual victory has made it possible for Pakistan to qualify for the final. Before the pivotal last Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja had a direct warning for the team: avoid social media and television. Given the emotional upheaval of their most recent loss to India, he emphasised the importance of mental rest.

“Anyone who needs extra practise can get it. Visit the pool and unwind. Avoid using social media and avoid watching television. Nothing good will happen there because Pakistan as a whole is disappointed. Get on board. After such defeats, especially ones against India, you point fingers at one another.

Ramiz Raja made this statement in a video that was uploaded to his YouTube channel.

Pakistan is given a wonderful opportunity by India in the 2023 Asia Cup. It’s essential for Pakistan’s cricketing players to recharge their batteries, both psychologically and physically, as the former player for Pakistan rightly pointed out. Their forthcoming match against Sri Lanka could serve as the impetus for their run to the Asia Cup final thanks to captain Babar Azam’s efforts to bring his team together and boost their spirits.

“India’s victory over Sri Lanka has offered Pakistan a glimmer of hope. We’ll now have to wait and watch if Pakistan can benefit from that or if their morale will be low following their loss to India. They need a break from the game, they need to psychologically clear their heads, and they have a reserve day. They have a good two-day break coming up during which they shouldn’t consider cricket or the loss, but rather come together and chat instead,” Ramiz Raja added.
