One of the main topics of discussion in the Border-Gavaskar Series has been Virat Kohli’s form. According to former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Kohli ought to learn from Sachin Tendulkar’s famous 241 in Sydney and refrain from using the cover drive. However, Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood friend, disagreed with Gavaskar’s advise.
During the commentary for the third Test of the series in Brisbane, Gavaskar made a recommendation. “Sunil Gavaskar has been a fantastic player, and I always appreciate his advice, but I hope he gives others advice regarding their batting as well. Since 2008, he has been playing well. Saying he is out of form based on just two innings would be unfair. In this series, he has already scored 100. Sharma was cited by NDTV as saying, “How many players have a hundred in the series?”
When India played Bangladesh and New Zealand at home during the season, there was also concern over Virat Kohli form.
While he only scored 93 runs in six innings against New Zealand, including three single-figure scores and a duck, Kohli was only able to score 99 runs in four innings against Bangladesh. Sharma, nevertheless, disregarded the statistics and predicted that Kohli would soon regain his form.
