Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had won six of its first nine games in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) under Rajat Patidar’s leadership. If nothing unusual occurs, the three-time champions ought to qualify for the playoffs.
According to some reports, the talismanic Virat Kohli may take back his captaincy job at RCB before the 2025 Indian Premier League. The Madhya Pradesh batsman has performed admirably under his leadership, winning over both supporters and detractors with his poise under duress and meticulousness.
In an unexpected move, the management chose to choose Rajat Patidar as an IPL team’s captain for the first time.
There were differing views, but the management trusted someone they considered as having a bright future, according to RCB’s spin-bowling coach Malolan Rangarajan. Among other captaincy qualities, the former cricket player praised Patidar’s ability to remain composed under pressure and his ability to rotate his bowlers.
“Rajat Patidar was tasked with overseeing a massive franchise. In the pre-match press conference before RCB’s away game against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, April 27, Rangarajan stated, “A lot of people had different opinions, but the management chose someone they saw a future with, and he’s done a tremendous job.”
“We’ve played a variety of games under his captaincy, including some with little pressure and others with a lot of pressure. He has always acted in a way that allows for complete composure and clarity when making decisions, as seen in the way he has switched up his bowlers. That demonstrates his level of performance this year, and as I mentioned, the second half of the IPL is still to come. We hope he keeps up his current pace,” he continued.
DC and RCB aim for a pivotal victory in the playoff chase.
Right now, RCB and DC have the same number of points (12). But Delhi has played eight games whereas RCB has played nine. Both teams have a good chance of qualifying for the playoffs. On Sunday, the game is sure to be an unforgettable one for fans.
