Rajat Patidar, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and a batter for India, will not be participating in the Duleep Trophy since the BCCI’s medical experts at the Centre of Excellence has recommended that the player rest. Patidar was considered for the England tour but was unable to go because of a hand injury he had during RCB’s winning campaign following their IPL 2025 title.
Although Rajat Patidar has already made his Test debut for the nation, the Indore native hasn’t been able to stay in the squad for too long because of his frequent ailments. The young player’s batting prowess during the previous IPL season has put him on track to play for the Men in Blue in T20Is as well.
However, Rajat Patidar would prioritise his recuperation for the time being before launching into the Ranji Trophy.
Although Rajat Patidar is training at MP’s off-season camp, the BCCI medical staff has advised him to take a rest and heal from his right hand injury, hence he hasn’t been batting. A source told The Times of India that although he will miss the Duleep Trophy, he should be alright for the Ranji Trophy.
Surgery is performed on the LSG pace triad.
Following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Patidar, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan underwent successful surgery in June and are now recovering. For the next six months, the three pacers are anticipated to be sidelined. In the lucrative league, they all played for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Mayank Yadav has successfully completed his operation. He played two games for LSG in the IPL 2025 before being disqualified from the competition because of a back ailment. Back in June, Dr. Rowan Schouten of Christchurch, New Zealand, was keeping a close eye on the surgical procedures. He took four wickets at an average of 20.91 in his three Twenty20 Internationals for India against Bangladesh in 2024.
According to a source, “he’s out for six to eight months.”
CoE to be mindful
Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, an orthopaedic surgeon from Mumbai, performed knee surgery on both Avesh and Mohsin. Indian celebrities Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant have both had surgeries performed by the same specialist. Mohsin had surgery last month to rebuild his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), while Avesh had surgery on his right knee on June 17.
Mohsin joined the LSG camp prior to the 2025 Indian Premier League after tearing his ACL in his right knee while competing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shardul Thakur took his place after he was unable to recover from the injury. During the 2024–25 domestic season, Avesh suffered a knee injury that prevented him from playing in Madhya Pradesh’s final Ranji Trophy league game. He was also absent from the first few IPL 2025 matches.
The three are expected to make a comeback during the second leg of the Ranji Trophy next year after missing the first half of the domestic cricket season in 2025–2026. At the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) facility in Bengaluru, they will receive rehabilitation.
