Lhuan-dre Pretorius, a teenage star for the Rajasthan Royals, has been called up for the first time in his T20I career after being included in South Africa’s squad for the July T20I tri-series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
Pretorius was recently called up for his first Test match, which was also for the Zimbabwe trip. His success in T20 cricket has also earned him a call-up for T20I, which is entirely justified.
Currently playing for Hampshire in the Vitality T20 Blast, he has amassed 110 runs at an average of 36.67 and a strike rate of 141. He gained notoriety in SA20 2025, blasting 397 runs at a strike rate of 166.8. Despite not playing a single game for the team, RR signed him as a replacement player for the 2025 Indian Premier League.
In addition to Pretorius, three other players—Corbin Bosch, Senuran Muthusamy, and 28-year-old Rubin Hermann, who plays for the Paarl Royals in the SA20—have also received their first T20I call-ups.
The team, which will be led by veteran Rassie van der Dussen in lieu of current captain Aiden Markram, has also included South Africa and Chennai Super Kings star Dewald Brevis.
Additionally, after nearly a year, left-arm pacer Nandre Burger, who is playing for the Texas Super Kings (TSK) in MLC 2025, returns to the national team. The other two seniors on the team are Reeza Hendricks and Lungi Ngidi.
All of the matches of the T20 tri-series will take held at the Harare Sports Club in Harare between July 14 and July 26.
