When the start of the Cricket World Cup League 2 match between Namibia and Scotland was postponed, the ground crew at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City burned a portion of the pitch to hasten drying. The game was canceled after several attempts and inspections because to the moist outfield and inappropriate pitch.
After the game was canceled, images of the strange incident emerged. As burnt spots from ash fire remnants developed on the field, players from both sides were photographed from the square by Cricket Scotland’s X account.
Multiple inspections were conducted prior to that, but despite the groundstaff’s great efforts, the pitch could not be prepared in time for the cutoff time of 9:02 pm (local time) due to the torrential downpour. The two sides were forced to split the points as a result.

Scotland and Namibia are now in third and sixth place, respectively, in the points table.
In the CWC League 2 thus far, the team captained by Gerhard Erasmus has won eight and lost thirteen games. The Scottish have won eleven games and lost seven. This was the third game that Scotland had abandoned. Scotland’s net run rate (+0.886) is significantly higher.
With 20 games played thus far and a 70% win rate, the USA are presently at the top of the charts. The only two teams with less games played than the USA (16 each) are Nepal and the United Arab Emirates, which are ranked seventh and eighth, respectively.
