Gujarat Titans (GT) combustible southpaw Rahul Tewatia disclosed that he recalled his blitzkrieg against the Punjab Kings during the 2020 IPL season while wearing the Rajasthan Royals uniform. Notably, the southpaw scored 53 runs off 31 balls against Punjab at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, propelling his team to a dramatic victory.
His innings included as many as seven sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 170.96 while pursuing Punjab’s total of 223. Tewatia revealed that it had only been a few days since he had watched the entire knock, as someone had sent him images of the innings along with a song by famous Indian rapper Divine that he could relate to precisely.
“Yes, just three days ago, on a flight from Lucknow,” she replied. Someone sent me an edited clip of images from the innings stitched together to the melody of the Divine song “Edit karke Image tune mera Meme bana diya,” which prompted me to begin viewing it. Tewatia is currently playing for the defending champion Gujarat Titans, but he has yet to achieve a significant run for the team.
The southpaw has scored 63 runs in 11 appearances, with a career high of 20 uninterrupted runs. Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat are currently leading the IPL points table with 16 points in 11 matches and a respectable net run rate (NRR) of 0.951. They are on track to secure a spot in the playoffs. With three games remaining in the group stage, Gujarat will go all out to secure a position in the Qualifier 1 bracket.
