Rahmat Shah, an Afghanistan batsman, is not expected to play in the third ODI against Bangladesh, which ends the series, because of a calf injury.
In a valiant bid to bat after Afghanistan had lost their ninth wicket in the second ODI, Rahmat Shah, who had been injured and forced to retire, came back to the crease for a single ball.
The right-handed batter was later lifted off the ground in a wheelchair after Afghanistan team physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam rushed to Rahmat Shah since he was unable to stand.
Rahmat time at bat was brief, as he was quickly taken out after being hit in the abdomen by a googly from Rishad Hossain, despite the cheers of the crowd.
“Rahmat is currently out after sadly succumbing to his injury. Tomorrow, we will make sure that everything is done correctly, including imaging. “I believe he will be out for a while,” the physiotherapist stated, adding that he is probably going to miss the third ODI against Bangladesh.
Rahmat Shah produced a vital half-century in the opening game and recently became the first Afghan batsman to reach 4,000 ODI runs.
On October 14, the third ODI will take place in Abu Dhabi.
