For the three-match Test series, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra is back in India. The 24-year-old’s outstanding performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 wowed the crowds, and he made his Test debut in Kanpur in 2021. He finished that tournament as the fourth-leading run scorer with 578 runs.
Rachin will be participating in his debut Test match in Bengaluru. The city is home to his family and is also the birthplace of his father. Rachin was born in Wellington, where they later relocated. As for Rachin’s Test cricket experience in Bengaluru, he said that playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium will be a wonderful event for him and that his father will be there as well.
“I take great pride in being of Indian descent. It’s unique to be able to perform where many members of my family reside. The ultimate form of cricket is test. Playing in Bengaluru has a family link, which adds to its significance. Dad is going to be here to observe. Yahoo! Sport quoted Rachin as saying, “There are times when you have to pinch yourself on the journey.”
It is noteworthy that in the recently finished Test series, Sri Lanka humiliated New Zealand 2-0. Following that, Tom Latham was named the new captain and Tim Southee resigned as captain. In the past, he has guided the team when Kane Williamson was not present, but now that the Black Caps are going through a very trying time, it will be challenging.
