R Ashwin eager to be first Indian to feature in The Hundred

R Ashwin has stated his desire to be the first cricket player from India to compete in England’s The Hundred. R Ashwin recently announced that he was open to trying out other franchise leagues after hanging his boots from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Aside from the numerous white-ball tournaments that R Ashwin might participate in, R Ashwin still has his sights set on The Hundred. Following the selling of franchise holdings earlier in the year, the teams will be rebranded for the first time in the Hundred tournament the following year.

The competition as a whole will greatly benefit from R Ashwin integration.

Indian organisations have purchased all or part of the Old Trafford, Headingley, Ageas Bowl, and Oval franchises. These organisations also own IPL teams. According to a report from The Telegraph, it is very possible that Ashwin will get bids from these franchises specifically. This time around, the highest salary offered to men’s cricket players in The Hundred is £200,000.

Given the influx of new funding, Ashwin should be able to get a sizable sum the following season. For a long time, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has desired an Indian player to participate in their domestic tournaments. However, none of its players are permitted to play for non-Indian leagues by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Ashwin has the ideal opportunity to travel the world now that he has retired from both international cricket and the IPL.

In addition to being one of the greatest cricket minds in the world, Ashwin is a legend in Indian cricket. It seems sense that his presence would draw more viewers to The Hundred, which aimed to overtake the IPL as the most popular franchise league. Bringing in Ashwin could assist us closer to that goal.

At a thrifty economy of 7.11, Ashwin has taken 317 wickets in 333 Twenty20 matches.
