One of the greatest wicketkeeper-batters of all time is Quinton de Kock. The 30-year-old made the announcement earlier this year that the current World Cup 2023 will be his final assignment before ending his career in one-day internationals.
Quinton de Kock is making his final game memorable since his 140-ball 174 against Bangladesh was his third century in as many games at this year’s championship game. The southpaw is in first place among the World Cup’s top run scorers with 407 runs in five games at an average of 81.40 and a strike rate of 114.97.
Heinrich Klaasen, a fellow wicketkeeper-batsman who has also been on fire, remarked that it will be difficult to persuade de Kock to continue playing ODIs after the 10-team competition is over.
The destructive right-handed hitter hoped Quinton de Kock would leave a lasting impression, though.
“It will be difficult to persuade him not to resign. He has been outstanding for both us and South Africa over the years. Though it is heartbreaking to watch him go, I am hoping that he does so successfully. For us in the competition, he has been outstanding,” Heinrich Klaasen was reported as saying by Star Sports.

Faf du Plessis, a former captain of South Africa, praised the Proteas for their performance in the tournament so far. They have four victories out of five games played in the ODI World Cup 2023, which puts them in second place overall.
“I’m incredibly proud. I have been a tremendous fan of seeing these guys play, du Plessis said. “You look at these players, the way they are playing right now, having played with them for such a long period, seeing them on top of their game.
Pakistan and South Africa will square off on October 27 in Chennai. Temba Bavuma and company will move to the top of the standings with a victory in this encounter.
