Shashank Singh, 33, is optimistic about receiving his first India call-up after playing effectively for Punjab Kings (PBKS) during the last two Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. Shashank amassed 350 runs from 17 games this season at a strike rate of 153.51 and an average of 50. For the first time since 2014, he was crucial in getting Punjab to the IPL final.
It’s difficult to be a finisher in T20 cricket because of the intense pressure and the limited amount of time to adjust to the pitch. But in his capacity as a finisher at Punjab Kings, Shashank has proven to be incredibly reliable.
Over the past two years, he has helped Punjab Kings get through some challenging times.
Shashank responded that he is constantly striving to get better at his game without thinking about what other people are doing when asked about the fierce competition in Indian cricket and his aspirations to don the national jersey. He thinks he is on the verge of being called up.
“My competition with myself is my main emphasis. There is no limit to my potential when I evaluate myself by my own standards. on an interview with Sports Today, Shashank stated, “Instead of comparing myself to others, I let my performances, skills, and game-winning effects speak for themselves as to why I should be in the Indian team.”
Since I first began playing professional cricket, when I was in my under-16 and under-19 years and my father handed me my first bag to play with, I had dreamed of playing for India. Yes, I’m close now and banging on the door, but I’m not sure when the time will be right. I don’t fear competition. I’ve demonstrated my abilities in cricket, and I think the time will come when my skill and good fortune coincide and the selectors find me to be a good fit. “I can guarantee that I will be present,” the right-handed batter continued.
