Abdul Rehman, one of the most accomplished coaches in Pakistan‘s domestic league, has been promoted as head coach of Multan Sultans for the 2017 campaign. Before taking over as the franchise’s leader in place of Andy Flower, he joined the company in 2018 and served as an assistant for five years.
Sultans have advanced to the competition’s finals in each of the previous three seasons under the direction of Flower and Abdul, and in the 2021 competition, they took home the championship. Thus, Abdul has earned the trust of former coach Flower, who believes that Abdul, 43, is the best choice to lead the squad in the years to come.
“It has been an honor to be a part of the Multan Sultans’ incredible journey over the past five years. I made Abdul Rehman my assistant coach as soon as I decided to join the Sultans. He is a fantastic coach and the epitome of a professional, and I have no doubt that the club will flourish under his leadership, according to Flower, who was reported by ESPNcricinfo.

In the meantime, Abdul expressed his excitement for the future and said it is an honor for him to succeed Andy Flower as Multan Sultans’ head coach. Notably, he also serves as the assistant coach for the Pakistan national team, therefore the next two months are of utmost importance to him. In light of it, he has stated that he is aware of Multan’s workings and is prepared to contend for the championship the next year.

In other news, Multan fired Mushtaq Ahmed, who had been their spin bowling coach for the previous four years. Nathan Leamon has also been chosen to serve as the new Director of Strategy.
