In the Ranji Trophy 2024, Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw made his professional cricket debut with a spectacular century against Chhattisgarh, following a protracted injury layoff. On the first day of their sixth game, which takes place on Friday, February 9, in Raipur, Mumbai made a wonderful start thanks to the 24-year-old’s 159 (185) innings, which included 18 fours and a six. In just 368 balls, he and opening partner Bhupen Lalwani shared a staggering 244 runs.
Prithvi Shaw reached his fifty in just 43 balls, but it took him some time to reach the century, which he reached in 102 balls. It took him a further 67 balls to surpass the 150-run threshold. Notably, Prithvi Shaw has been out of action since August 2023 because of a knee injury he sustained while competing for Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup. He had to have surgery in London as a result and then recuperate for three months. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru recently cleared the 24-year-old following a fitness test.

Due to his injury, he was unable to participate in important domestic competitions, including the first half of the current Ranji Trophy 2024, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. Shaw was having a fantastic run in the One Day Cup 2023 before becoming hurt. He was his team’s top run scorer, with 429 runs from four innings at an average of 143 and an incredible strike rate of 152.66 with two hundreds.
