Right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav of Team India highlighted his role and attitude to his games exclusively with Star Sports on Follow the Blues LIVE. “I always stay in top gear. I usually get thrilled when I’m in the dugout because I’m looking forward to my turn at bat. Additionally, even if I am out after the first pitch, I won’t be bothered because I am still excited and prepared in the bench. Every time a wicket is lost, my heart rate spikes, and I instinctively go to the crease because I feel happy at that heart rate, which is in zone 5.
I believe I should always be prepared for everything when I play the opening ball. Because I always have this predetermined plan in mind when I go to bat, it doesn’t matter to me if I need to hit a four or a six. I feel like I am in my zone and am able to score some significant runs for my team when I bowl one or two nice strokes or run between the wickets.
Sanjay Manjrekar, an Indian cricketer, commented on Suryakumar Yadav’s ability in the ODI format, saying that “Yadav is a very honest cricketer. First of all, his comeback to one-day internationals, where he was dismissed three times against Australia in his first delivery. Suryakumar Yadav should concentrate on his defensive strategies if a similar situation occurs in the future where two or three wickets are lost and he is forced to bat. In the 50-over format, defensive strategies and preparation are frequently more advantageous for a batter. As we saw, Virat Kohli is very concentrated and working on taking singles during the camp session.
Suryakumar Yadav also scores runs at a strike rate of 200 in the IPL or T20 cricket formats.
Because 60–70% of runs in this 50-over version of cricket are singles, doubles, and triples, I find it to be a less thrilling format of the game. It’s not a game of fours and sixes where players must concentrate and practice around it; Suryakumar Yadav can handle it. His fours are consistently greater than his sixes. He enjoys connecting with the ground through impact. He enjoys making grounded strokes and boundaries, including fours and sixes, but he does not only aim for hitting sixes. The potential is in Sky. He must feel confident and firmly believe that he belongs here.
