Former Indian bowler Praveen Kumar recently highlighted how, in the 2008 Indian Premier League (IPL) inaugural season, he had no desire to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Due to the distance between the city and his homeland, the 37-year-old expressed reluctance to join RCB.
Because Delhi was so close to his homeland of Meerut, he said that the Delhi Daredevils were his ideal travel destination. Speaking about a pre-season event, Praveen Kumar disclosed that he was asked to sign some paperwork but was not aware that he was doing so on behalf of RCB.
Along with saying that he demonstrated opposition by signing the paperwork, he also said that Lalit Modi, the IPL creator, threatened to ruin his career if he didn’t sign.
“I didn’t want to play for RCB because the food wasn’t to my taste, I didn’t speak English, and Bangalore was a long way from home. I could have visited my house occasionally because Delhi and Meerut are fairly close. I was forced to sign a paper, though, by someone. I had no idea it was part of the deal. I expressed my desire to represent Delhi instead of Bangalore. Praveen Kumar said in a video posted on The Lallantop YouTube channel, “Lalit Modi called me and threatened to end my career.”

One of the many issues Praveen Kumar discussed in his interview with The Lallantop was his assessment of veteran official Marais Erasmus. The former Indian bowler said he was one of the worst umpires in international cricket, believing he made incorrect calls every time.
“This umpire is pitiful. His choices are terrible; he gives in when the time is right and takes it too far when it’s not. We were in Nottingham for a test match. I’d bowled a good number of overs. I bowled something that landed right in front of Kevin Pietersen, hitting him on the pads. Erasmus determined it was not out. He said, “I asked him, ‘Tu andha vandha hai kya?'” (Are you blind or whatever?).
