In the playing XI for the third Test match against England, Indian veteran Sunil Gavaskar thinks it is obvious that Prasidh Krishna will have to make room for the returning Jasprit Bumrah. After missing out on the 336-run triumph in the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, Indian skipper Shubman Gill had earlier stated that the speed spearhead would rejoin the bowling assault.
In order to guarantee a place in the starting lineup for the first Test match at Headingley, Leeds, Krishna first defeated players like Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. He let up runs at an economic rate of more than six per over, but he was still able to hold onto his spot despite a poor showing.
In the first innings of the second Test, Krishna bowled 13 overs and finished with a score of 0 for 72. He recovered, though, with a more controlled stint in the second innings, returning 1 for 39 in 14 overs. Gavaskar believed that Krishna had trouble consistently determining the ideal length, even with the minor improvement. He went on to say that it would be challenging to bench Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep right now due to their strong performances.
“I believe it’s obvious. Prasidh Krishna must leave since he was a little pricey in the first innings. Gavaskar stated on Sports Tak that even at Leeds, despite taking a few wickets, he didn’t appear to be ready to make an impression.
You’ve witnessed how many excellent deliveries Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep have bowled. Additionally, it’s possible that they didn’t get any wickets because the ball smacked the batsmen in the pads after they missed.
Prasidh must be the one because his length wasn’t quite correct. “I think he’ll give way to Bumrah,” he continued.
In the second Test, Deep and Siraj were outstanding with the ball, particularly on a level surface that provided the bowlers with minimal support. Siraj scored his first-ever five-wicket haul in England in the first innings, while Deep made an impressive ten-wicket haul in the match.
